Rockabilly

Working with Hard Rock Cafe for my second year 'Live Project', I looked into the brand ethos and image of the Hard Rock Cafe franchise; its origin as well as its influences and musical following. I found Elvis a huge inspiration, not only as the King of Rock, something at the core of the Hard Rock Cafe brand, but also as a gateway to the Rockabilly genre and era; American diners, Hot rodding and teenage rebellion.

The range of jackets and trends from this music genre are very fitting with current and up and coming trends, such as personalised patches on jackets, as well as graphic t-shirts and pins, two things which are also very popular within the Hard Rock Cafes current product range.
Due to the commercial aspect of this brief, some may feel this project was restrictive creative wise in terms of experimentation and design, however I felt the guidance and construct of designing for a consumer and target market assisted in the design and selection process, and gave me a clearer scope of what and who to design for.
