Medicine Man

A first year degree project, this project was inspired by the Medicine Man collection at the Wellcome Collection in London which featured Henry Wellcomes archive of medical equipment from all over the world. The focus of my research revolved around a collection of old medicine bottles and beakers. I experimented with the silhouettes of the bottles, laying them ontop of the female body and playing around with the concept of historical and modern medicine and science, particularly microscopic images and developments in science, exploring this through mimicking these images through texture and stitch.
My range portrayed the crossing over the two, while creating structural and bold silhouettes on the female form.
